Yu Yu Hakusho

Yu Yu Hakusho is about a teenage boy, Yuske Yurameshi who skips school one day. On that day, he saw a young boy about to be run over by a car. So he quickly pushes the boy out of the way and saves him. Yuske dies in the process. While dead, he is greeted by Botan who is also known as the Grim Reaper. Yuske finds out that he has really died for no reason. The kid would have jumped out of the way anyway. Also Yuske wasn’t supposed to die that day. Rather than going to heaven or hell, Yuske is sent to King Yema, who looks like a young kid even though he is really over 500 years old. Yuske is then put on a trial to see if he gets resurrected or not. After some time, it is decided that Yuske gets resurrected. But because he new about the afterlife, the spirit world thought they would give him special powers and make him a spirit detective, catching rogue demos and ghosts.
